NEW DELHI: India became the first team to score 200 runs in an innings in Test cricket, marking yet another incredible milestone. This accomplishment was achieved shortly after Indian batters broke the fastest fifty and fastest hundred records in the longest format of the game on Monday during the team’s second Test match against Bangladesh in Kanpur.

They broke Australia’s record and established a new standard for the fastest 200 runs in test history thanks to the explosive batting lineup, which is well known for its attacking mindset.

India completed the feat in 24.2 overs, surpassing Australia’s 28.1 overs from their 2017 Sydney match against Pakistan.Virat Kohli, the batting maestro, accomplished it in style by hitting a big six down the ground straight away.

Not long after, India surpassed England’s 33.6 overs against Pakistan in Rawalpindi in 2022 to become the team to reach 250 in Test cricket the quickest.

The Indian openers, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal, laid the groundwork for this incredible feat by taking advantage of favorable circumstances and playing brave cricket.

Not long after India became the first team in a Test match to score fifty runs in the first three overs, captain Rohit was dismissed.

Before falling to Mehidy Hasan Miraz with an 11-ball 23-run score, Rohit hit three sixes and a four.

Jaiswal, however, wasn’t bothered by his captain’s dismissal and carried on with his brilliant knock against Bangladesh.

In just 31 balls, Jaiswal reached his fifty, matching Shardul Thakur’s record for the third-fastest fifty for India in Test cricket.

India became the first team in Test cricket history to hit 90 sixes in a calendar year when Jaiswal, who was dismissed after scoring 72 off 51 balls, carried on his assault even after reaching his historic milestone of hitting sixes at will.
